What

Localist is a platform that enables people to share lists and recommendations with their communities. Instead of sharing miscellaneous documents, texts, and notes, you can keep everything in one place. I led the product design efforts across 2 months (total 50 hrs) and closely worked with the developer to ensure quality production.

Why

Why

Why

  1. Short form content “Hidden Gems of X”

Localist enables local tourism creators to connect with their community, with the utility of the map, their audience can contextualize and act on recommended places. Opportunity for local businesses to boost their platform.

  2. Emerging market for map networks

Discovery network apps focusing on map navigation as their core experience such as Corner, Guides (Maps), Beli, etc, prove that users turn to location based apps based on relevant events, such as incoming travel by navigating unfamiliar geography.

Who would use Localist?

These user personas were created by studying accounts in the local tourism space and their behavior. These personas were used to cover considerations of the creator with a high volume platform and the casual/leaned out user.

Curating a "list" of places on Localist should feel like...

Challenges and constraints

Scope alignment with product owner. Presenting upper right field matrix impact cases early to avoid scope creep.

Redistribution of time allocation. Spent too much initial time on user research and feature alignment.

Designing with the top down funnel in mind. Marketing into consideration.

Considering the 50 hour contract, I kept scope lean and managed to deliver on the focused funnel outcomes.
