Context

When I was the lead designer at Racer, an instant ghost kitchen delivery service, we noticed the issue of shift management systems failing to simplify a typical workflow for both the manager and employee.

At times when employee turnover was high, the manager has to quickly onboard an employee and publish schedules efficiently. Racer staff tried multiple services, none made assignments more efficient.

Two key stakeholders were involved; kitchen/management staff and courier/employee.

To measure success, this flow was the area of focus.

For Managers

What happens often that slows down operations and increase turnover rate?

Unresolving scheduling and back office errors due to deprioritized navigation.

For Employers

How does the tool affect employee performance?

Hidden tasks and confusing navigation stumps tasks from getting done.

Why Tap Time over existing solutions?

The all-in-one management tools for businesses used today (7Shifts, When I Work, Homebase, etc.) may be convenient to track scheduling and miscellaneous items however, users have pointed out edge cases and the overall issue of both the admin and the employer feeling stressed about navigating these tools.

Navigation and visibility

Architecting feature placements and critical touch points were prioritized with these requested considerations distributed to local retailers.
